6mm cannula: I loathe you

I am throwing in the towel on my 6mm cannula experience.

I want to like them, in fact I want to love them, but my body just hates them.

I have been through a whole box and if they didn't bleed, they were kinking or...the worst of all: stinging like a mofo after 1 day.

Ill admit when they work, they work well. But there have been a few times where I genuinely considered skipping a bolus because it hurt so much.

And let me tell you, you do NOT want to feel every small push of  basal insulin. I currently am on my last one and Saturday can't come fast enough (site change day).

  1. So I just ordered a box of 6 mm when I usually use 9mm so now I'm a little worried? What did you switch from? Why do you think it hurts so much? Eek!

    1. I switched from the 9mm Inset II. My boluses really hurt with the 6mm for some reason. the first few times I thought it was just coincidence but now that I am all the way through that box I know it's the infusion sets.

With that said LOTS of people are completely trouble free with the 6mm so you may be in the clear. My basal rates are also high as are my I:c ratios, so that may have something to do with it.
